Meet Your Divers

wave-line Diving has multiple levels matched to each divers skills and abilities. Divers can compete at the National, Aspire I, II and Diver Development levels. FCDC also operates a Learn to Dive program for newcomers to the sport. Team FCDC 2022-23

Rising Stars – WHERE THE EVOLUTION STARTS

Rising Star athletes have been Talent identified from our annual open tryouts. These athletes come from a variety of backgrounds ranging from gymnastics to karate to backyard trampolines. The athletes will be learning the basic form to diving in a fun and non-competitive environment. Evaluations are on-going and coaches determine the athletes progression to the next level.

Diver Development – WHERE WE GET TO WORK

Divers at this level will learn the basic foundation of diving and will progress to learning dives. Coaches will indvidualize sessions to ensure every child progress at their own rate. There are no age restrictions, but we try to have similar aged divers in each group

Aspire I and II – EARLY COMPETITION

Aspire divers have progressed to develop their “dive list” required for competition. Aspire divers can compete at Aspire invitationals across the province and are grouped according to ages, with levels A, B, C, D, and E for Aspire II and A-D for Aspire I. These divers will compete with mandatory dives on 1M and 3M spring boards and platform dives. All Aspire II are allowed to compete at the Aspire Championship at the end of May.

National – IT’S GETTING REAL

Divers at this level have 3 mandatory meets in the province and at the discretion of the coach, can compete anywhere in Canada. They will strive to qualify for Jr. Elite, and Jr. Development Nationals at the end of the season (usually July). To qualify divers must meet minimum standards for their age group and event and qualifications are set annually by the national governing body, Diving Plongeon Canada (DPC). Divers are grouped by age into Development (up to 13) and Elite (13-18) and must complete mandatory dives on 1M and 3M spring boards and platform dives. To compete at this level you must have the required dive list.

SENIOR National – THE BIG TIME

Senior National level divers are typically older than 12 and have achieved Senior national qualifying standards in open events. Point standards are reviewed and adjusted annually by DPC and divers must meet these point standards to be eligible for entry into individual and synchronized diving events at the senior and junior national championships. This means they have to achieve minimum scores in mandatory dives on 1M and 3M spring boards and platform dives.
